PositiveShift has signed a 10 years partnership agreement with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for capacity building and training of 75,000+ youth to enable them for sustainable livelihood choices and also Upskill our country’s youth.
PositiveShift has created an individual entity- SAKSHAM Skills Academy (SAKSHAM), to carry forward the project mission. This agreement was signed on 4th September 2015, at the NSDC Office, New Delhi.
SAKSHAM will develop Training centers across the country particularly in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu. The focus areas identified for offering various training programs (skills based) are sectors
- Banking & Finance (BFSI),
- Business Management and
In addition to these sectors, SAKSHAM will continue to run support programs on the areas like: computer training, communication training, soft skills etc for the rural youth and the local schools.
Over next few weeks, the SAKSHAM team will develop unique products, coupled with e-learning content and faculty. The products will be delivered though classroom based model as well as online models. Business Management programs and Entrepreneurship programs will also be developed and delivered.
As a large number of the rural population in India belongs to the labor force, the skills gap between their existing skills and those that are in demand in the industry is the major contributor to poverty in these segments. There is huge unmet need for skills development training programs, which are short term but can bring up the level of the skills to a decent status for enabling jobs or self-employment for the seekers. Lack of quality courses, shortages of efficient / qualified trainers and inadequate training infrastructure leads to unavailability of skilled workforce in any kind of industry.
SAKSHAM has set its pilot plan for the first 2 years targeting 7,000 plus trainees and linking them up with market linkages in the areas of Telecom & Electronics and IT & BFSI . Team is engaging industry professionals as well as tying up with the partners at different levels for creating a complete ecosystem to enable robust and innovative business models around the specialized micro-enterprises to be created with these SAKSHAM-trained rural youth in the coming 10 years and beyond.
We thank all our friends and well-wishers who have been with us thus far. We start a NEW CHAPTER and we look forward to your continued alliance and be successful together.
